Volunteers Needed for Drummond Hill Cemetery Tours

Every October, the Niagara Falls Museums delights spectators with moving stories through a guided tour at the Drummond Hill Cemetery. This annual storytelling event is performed by male and female volunteer actors ages 14 and up. The museum is looking for volunteer performers and backstage assistants for this year’s upcoming cemetery tours. mPublic Programmer of the Niagara Falls Museums, Maja Bannerman says, “This theatrical experience is a good introduction to the worlds of community and professional theatre as well as the field of living history.” An initial volunteer meeting will take place at museum at 5049 Victoria Ave. on Sunday, September 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. Those interested will be asked to fill out a volunteer application, which is available now at the museum. Participants must be available for every performance. Tour dates are October 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29 and 30.

Rehearsals will take place on site at the Battle Ground Hotel Museum, 6151 Lundy’s Lane, or at a convenient locale for performers. Rehearsals are once or twice a week on weekend days or weeknights, depending on the schedule of participants.

The museum makes every attempt to provide appropriate period costumes but assistance from the volunteers is always appreciated. A final costume fitting and tech rehearsal will take place on Sunday, October 9 followed by a full dress rehearsal on Wednesday, October 12 in the Drummond Hill Cemetery.

If you would like to volunteer for this year’s tours please contact Maja by phone at 905-358-5082 or email at mbannerman@niagarafalls.ca.

The Niagara Falls History Museums are a municipally-run trio of sites dedicated to preserving the history of the City of Niagara Falls and the surrounding area. They offer extensive collections of everyday objects and artifacts from the War of 1812, as well as programs and activities for schools and for the public.
