"Best Christmas Pageant Ever" Onstage at Kenan Center

The Carriage House Players in partnership with the Kenan Center will present Barbara Robinson’s classic tale, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, at the Kenan Center's Taylor Theater, 433 Locust Street, Lockport, just in time for holiday family fun! The play is directed by Peg Merrill, who directed the same play on the same stage nearly twenty years ago.

In this hilarious Christmas story, Grace and Bob Bradley (Allyson Quader and Chris Sherman) struggle to produce their church Christmas pageant after the bossy grand dame of their congregation (Betsy Ross) breaks her leg just before rehearsals begin. The Bradley siblings Beth (Emma Flatau), who narrates the story, and her brother Charlie (Nico Radwanski) reluctantly get roped into the production, and find themselves and their church friends working with the Herdmans, probably the most inventively awful kids in history. It’s fun and mayhem when the Bradleys and the Herdmans collide to bring the Christmas story to the stage. Over a dozen children from Niagara and Erie counties, as well as some busybody “church ladies” and the pastor, round out the cast. This is a play for the whole family, one that comically and reverently celebrates the true meaning of Christmas.

Performances are December 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7:30 p.m., and December 10 and 17 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $14 adults/$12 members; for children age 12 and under, $10/$8 members. Tickets are available at the Kenan Center during regular business hours, online at Ticketleap, or call 433-2617. For more information, go to kenancenter.org.
