April 28 is Boom Days at the LaSalle Yacht Club
“The community is invited to an Open House at LaSalle Yacht Club Saturday, April 28 from 6-10PM to celebrate Niagara Boom Days,” said Eric Miller, LaSalle PRIDE Chair and MC for this year’s program. The LaSalle Yacht Club is located at 73 So. 68th Street, Niagara Falls, New York.
Canoe and kayak boaters are also invited to attend by joining Cavalier de LaSalle, Mayor Paul Dyster and a boating contingent from LaSalle PRIDE. Meet at Griffon Park Boat Launch, Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, New York at 5:30 PM for the 1 mile trip downstream to the LaSalle Yacht Club. Expect a 6 PM departure.
“Boom Days is our community’s unique way to ask “where was winter?” with the mid March lifting of the Lake Erie Ice Boom near Buffalo. Our Boom Days evening will celebrate the natural, artistic and cultural wealth of our Niagara River and the LaSalle Community's waterfronts,” concluded Eric Miller.
Niagara Boom Days co-sponsors include LaSalle PRIDE, LaSalle Yacht Club, Niagara Tradition Home Beer and Wine Supplies and Mayor Paul Dyster.
Reenactors from Old Fort Niagara will provide musket fire to welcome the explorer Cavalier de LaSalle, Father Hennepin and the boating contingent who will land by canoe at the Yacht Club to attend the opening ceremony at 6:30 PM. Boy Scout Troop 841 will participate in the program opening. Mayor Paul Dyster will present a City message declaring April 28 as Boom Days in Niagara County. Yacht Club Rear Commodore Frances Galdon will welcome the guests.
A dozen community exhibits will be featured at the Niagara Falls celebration. Music will be presented by Ladies First Jazz Combo lead by Jennifer May. Food and cash bar are available from 6 PM for visiting guests. Special recognition will be given Old Fort Niagara and NIMAC by LaSalle PRIDE.
