Niagara University Receives $1.5 Million Gift from Alumnus to Establish First Endowed Chair

Niagara University has received a $1.5 million estate gift from alumnus Dr. John J. Hughes to establish the first endowed chair at the university.

The John J. Hughes, ’67 Endowed Chair in Biology will be reserved to support the research, teaching and scholarly activities of a distinguished scientist and serve as a catalyst for Niagara to build upon and expand its programs in the interdisciplinary sciences.

NCCC to Unveil Thunderwolf

Niagara County Community College will hold a news conference Wednesday, December 1st at 6:45 pm in the main gym to unveil the new Thunderwolf mascot.

In attendance will be Buffalo Bill great Steve Tasker along with celebrity mascots Billy Buffalo, Sabretooth, Buster Bison and Rax of the Bandits. Join NCCC President James Klyczek along with all the NCCC athletes, coaches and students for this great event.

NCCC/Freedom Run Reach Vineyard Lease Agreement

NCCC/Freedom Run Reach Vineyard Lease Agreement For Winery Operations Program to be Housed in Falls Culinary & Hospitality Institute

Niagara County Community College today announced a lease agreement with Freedom Run Winery located at 5138 Lower Mountain Road in Lockport. The vineyard will be used to grow grapes to be used in NCCC’s new Winery Operations Program which will be housed in the new Niagara Falls Culinary and Hospitality Institute in Niagara Falls. 

NCCC Honors ESD's CEO Dennis Mullen at Annual Recognition Dinner

Niagara County Community College President James P. Klyczek awarded Empire State Development Chairman and CEO Dennis Mullen an official Niagara Falls Culinary Institute jacket at the annual college Recognition Dinner held Friday night on campus. Mullen was awarded the jacket and also received the NCCC Board of Trustee award for his dedication to the Culinary and Hospitality Institute project which will be located in the Rainbow Centre property in downtown Niagara Falls. 

Mullen was also honored by the Niagara County Legislature for his efforts and was given a framed bicentennial wall hanging and plaque from Legislative Chairman Bill Ross and Legislator John Cerretto.

A crowd of 450 NCCC employees along with invited guests and dignitaries were in attendance for the yearly event which honors those who have contributed to NCCC with years of service and exceptional accomplishments. 

NCCC Honored Veterans

SANBORN, N.Y. — Niagara County Community College hosted its annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony Nov 10, at 11 a.m. at the NCCC’s Veterans Park. The annual ceremony was led by Sgt Derek Hornung, currently serving in the US Army Reserves having completed a tour in Iraq. Sgt Hornung is a graduate of NCCC’s Criminal Justice Department and is currently working on a second degree in Emergency Management.

NCCC to Hold Open House November 4th

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- Niagara County Community College will hold its annual fall Open House on Thursday, November 4th from 5:30-7:30pm. This is an opportunity for prospective students to tour the campus, attend workshops like ‘Financial Aid 101’, ‘Transferring from NCCC to a four year college or university’ and ‘Tips for Success’ presented by NCCC administrators, faculty and students.

Visitors should enter the lobby of the Notar Building at the far left entrance of the front of the campus complex. There they can pick up information on the 70 degree and certificate programs now available at NCCC as well as visit the beautiful on-campus housing.
