The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops is accepting online applications year-round from Western New York restaurants, food trucks, and wineries interested in participating in Buffalo’s premier summertime food festival. The deadline to apply for the 2014 festival is January 31, 2014. The nation’s largest two-day food festival is set for July 12 and 13, 2014 along Delaware Avenue and Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo.

To be eligible, restaurants and wineries must be public establishments whose primary commercial function is to serve food/wine on a retail basis and be open year round in Western New York. Wineries from the Finger Lakes wine region are also eligible to apply. Food truck applicants must adhere to the same menu item criteria as brick and mortar restaurants. 'Top Chef' Star Fabio Viviani to Meet Fans at Amherst Store

'Top Chef' Star Fabio Viviani to Meet Fans at Amherst Store

In his travels around the world, Fabio Viviani has visited many places. But he's only passed through Western New York. That will change this weekend when he makes a special appearance in Amherst.

The Italian cuisinier and "Top Chef" fan favorite will participate in the grand opening celebration at BJ's Wholesale Club.

"I look forward to be at BJ's; we're going to be there for the event for the opening at the Amherst store. It's going to be great," he said in a phone interview. "We're going to raffle some cookbook, we're going to have some Q-and-As. It'll be a nice event."

Fabio will meet fans, sign copies of his new cookbook, "Fabio's Italian Kitchen," and, hopefully, have enough time left over to visit Niagara Falls.

"That's one of my top five wish list place to visit in the United States when I have time off," he said.

Woodcock Brothers Serves Great Beer in a Gorgeous Setting

I heard about Woodcock Brewery’s opening a couple months ago because of an article by Buffalo Spree’s Julia Burke, but I had no idea where Wilson was (I still kind of don’t) and I assumed I’d probably never visit. Luckily a couple weeks ago my in-laws decided they wanted to visit the brewery for dinner and offered to drive us there, so we of course said yes. I didn’t see any pictures of the brewery or look at the menu before hand, so I was impressed when we pulled up to a massive building (a former Cold Storage facility) that appeared to have been seriously renovated.
