Niagara Community College to Host SUNY Coaching Certification

Sanborn, N.Y. – Youth sports coaches and program administrators in the Greater Buffalo area are encouraged to attend a coaching education and certification course on Wednesday, August 3rd  at Niagara Country Community College.  The widely popular SUNY Youth Sports Institute’s coaching class will be held at the Athletics Building in room H116 and run from 5:30-8:00pm.  Niagara County Community College Health and Physical Education Instructor and SUNY Youth Sports Institute trainer, John Strong, will bring insights, tools, and tips for coaches to make the most of their youth sports leadership opportunity.

The SUNY Youth Sports Institute has been chartered by the State University of New York to assist local communities in creating sustainable and positive sport environments for children throughout New York State.  The Institute’s seven module coaching certification curriculum addresses topics of serious concern for coaches; adult volunteers; and health, education and youth advocates.  In a single, three hour training session, the SUNY Youth Sports Institute offers training and certification in a set of minimum standards to non-school youth coaches across all youth sports.

Since March 2008, the SUNY Youth Sports Institute has trained and certified over 9,500 youth sport coaches in towns and cities across New York State.  These coaches come from all areas of sport and span a wide variety of ages.  If you are interested in becoming a SUNY Youth Sports Institute Certified Coach you can register online for this course at the cost of $20 or find future training dates near you at www.youthsportsny.org/eregistration.html.
