Niagara Falls, NY - It was a changing of the guards of sorts in Niagara Falls on Monday night as the city said goodbye to one police superintendent and named another to the post.
Niagara Falls Police Chief John Chella is retiring after serving 42 years in the department. Monday night was his last city council meeting. The mayor Lt. Bryan Dalporto his successor. Dalporto says, "We have a lot of challenges ahead of us and I learned a lot from Chief Chella and will be able to further the progress the department's made. I look forward to all the challenges."
Chella picked the design and implementation of the new police headquarters building as his crowning achievement.
Chief Chella will officially retire and Lt. Delporto will be sworn in New Years Day.
