Torso Identified as Missing Niagara Falls Mother | News

NIAGARA FALLS, NY--  A torso found on the Canadian side of the Niagara River late last month has been identified as a missing Niagara Falls, NY woman.

Loretta Gates of Niagara Falls vanished on August 25th.   Police officials say Gates, 30, was last seen in the area of Main Street and Niagara Avenue in Niagara Falls, NY.  Her family says she told her mother that she would be back in 15 minutes.  That was the last anyone saw, or heard from her.

Investigators used DNA to identify Gates.  Gates was the mother of three children.

Niagara Falls Police are treating the case as a homicide.  They ask anyone with information to contact them at: 716-286-4553.

Friends and family of Gates held a vigil on Friday night to honor her memory.
