Hyde Park Lake Rescue Attempt

NIAGARA FALLS, NY--  2 On Your Side has received photos taken from the dramatic rescue of a man who had fallen through the ice at Hyde Park Lake in Niagara Falls Wednesday.

The photos were taken by Niagara Gazette photographer James Neiss.

The man, identified as Pascal "Pat" Scrufari, 70, of Niagara Falls, later died at a local hospital.

Officials say the man was walking his dogs when he fell through.  You can see in one of the photos his two dogs standing by waiting for him while rescue crews scramble to pull the man out.

Officials say 911 operators received a call just after 3pm Wednesday that someone had fallen into Hyde Park Lake.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered the man underwater, with only his clothes visible when firefighters arrived.

Battalion Chief Daniel Boland jumped in, along with Captain Jason Zona, to help pull the man out of the water.

The pictures were taken by a relative of Chief Boland and sent to us by a third party.
