Tourist assaulted, robbed on Christmas in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- A tourist was assaulted and robbed near the Discovery Center at Niagara Falls State Park on Christmas. 

Police say they are attempting to find the suspect of an assault/robbery that occurred around 11:40 p.m. on Christmas night.

A 41-year-old woman was with her tour group and decided to leave her hotel. When she left, she got lost and asked the suspect for help. After that the man knocked her to the ground, he took her purse and shoes and told her to lay on the ground.

Police say she was hit several times in the head and body. She was treated and released for her injuries at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5'10'', 200-210 pounds and balding. He was reportedly wearing a black jacket, light colored pants and white shoes.
