Revolutionary War Returns to Old Fort Niagara

The American Revolution returns to Old Fort Niagara and American and British forces are vying for your support. Old Fort Niagara hosts a Revolutionary War Encampment on October 9 & 10.

Beginning at 10am both days, Revolutionary War re-enactors will portray both British and American forces, offering musket and artillery demonstrations throughout the day. At 1pm each day, kids and their parents will be recruited for a mock battle by either the Patriots or the British forces.

Writing With Light Student Exhibition

Just Buffalo Literary Center and CEPA Gallery are pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Writing With Light Student Exhibition. A celebratory reception will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at CEPA Gallery in the Market Arcade building, 617 Main Street, Buffalo.

Featuring selected works from Just Buffalo & CEPA Gallery’s education programs from the past year, the exhibit will display work from Picturing Poetry, Writer Residencies, and Bookmaking projects.

Writing With Light reached more than 3,500 K-12 students across the region this year, and its emphasis on intensive one-on-one contact between teaching artists and students yields powerful creative results. 

Genevieve DeCarlo, a 3rd grade teacher at Discovery School, P.S. 67 explains, "It was amazing to see the growth of my students... All children should be able to have this awesome learning experience!"

Mount St. Mary's Hospital To Hold First "CardioCraze"

Mount St. Mary’s Hospital will conduct its first “CardioCraze” on Saturday, September 18 from 8 am – 11 am at Academy Park in the Village of Lewiston.

Designed around a wellness walk that will incorporate Artpark, the neighborhood streets of the Village, and Center Street, the event is a fundraiser for the Cardiology Department at Mount St. Mary’s.

The day will open with registration at 8 a.m. and the walk beginning at 9 a.m.  Walkers will proceed south and west from Academy Park through Artpark, S.

Krull Park Beach Reopens

Niagara County Department of Health has rescinded a beach advisory at Krull Park beach.

 Water Quality is once again suitable for recreational swimming

 Niagara County, New York, 08/18/2010: Recent surveillance sampling conducted on August 16, 2010, by the Niagara County Department of Health at Krull Park beach has determined that the water is suitable for swimming. The Niagara County Department of Health will continue to monitor water quality closely and will immediately notify the public of any problems associated with water quality.
