Pet Connection Plans November Community Events

November is shaping up to be a very busy month for the volunteers of Pet Connection Programs Inc., a maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla.

On Friday, November 5, volunteers and puppies will visit one of Buffalo’s most historically significant buildings — the Larkin at Exchange Building — from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

NCCC to Host Hay-Day & Beggars Night

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- The Niagara County Community College Student Life Department will be hosting a free Hay-Day and Beggars Night party on campus, Saturday, October 30th from 2-6 p.m. in the small gym located in “F” building and outside the college in the wooded area (weather permitting).

The party is for children from 7-12 years of age and will feature music, costume contest, candy, entertainment, refreshments, pumpkins, coloring contests and carnival-type games.

Niagara Falls Applebee's Restaurant to Serve Free Meals to Kids on Halloween

Before the trick-or-treating begins, the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurant in Niagara Falls, NY invites kids 10 and under to put on their costumes and enjoy a free meal on Halloween, Sunday, October 31.

On Halloween only, children can choose one free entrée from the following options on the Kids Menu:

  • Chicken Fingers
  • Mini Cheeseburger
  • Grilled Cheese Sandwich
  • Kraft®  Macaroni & Cheese
  • Fried Shrimp
  • Hot Dog

The meal also includes a choice of side dish and soft drink or juice.

Treats on Tap at Power Vista 'Spooktacular'

LEWISTON—Tricks and treats are on tap for the New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) annual Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Niagara Power Vista.  Admission and parking are free for a scary good time.

This year’s Spooktacular is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature spooky games, courtesy of the Niagara Police Athletic League, a haunted house, courtesy of the Lockport YMCA, movies and a children’s costume contest.  Come early for more special Halloween treats.

Guests are also are invited to enjoy the Niagara Power Vista’s attractions, which include displays and interactive exhibits relating to the production of electricity, energy efficiency and the area’s history, as well as spectacular views from the observation deck, 350 feet above the Niagara River Gorge.  The Power Vista is located at 5777 Lewiston Road in Lewiston.

Niagara University Invites Prospective Students to Fall Open House

Niagara University is pleased to announce that its annual Open House for prospective students and their families will take place on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 from 12 to 4 p.m.

Open House is an excellent opportunity for prospective students and their families to take guided tours of the university and attend presentations on admissions and academic policies, as well as to speak with Niagara faculty and staff about financial aid and course offerings.

Attendees are encouraged to park in the Castellani and Dwyer parking lots and register on the lower level of the Gallagher Center.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center to Conduct Flu Shot Clinics in October

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will conduct Saturday flu shot clinics for adults 18 and older from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 2, Oct. 16 and Nov. 6.  The clinics will be held in the Medical Center Auditorium, 621 10th Street. 

This year’s influenza vaccine protects against the new H3N2 influenza strain, last year’s swine flu, part of the H1N1 family, and a Type B strain -- all in a single dose. Pneumonia vaccine also will be available at the clinics. 

Those seeking flu shots should use the hospital’s 10th Street entrance or the walkway from the attached parking ramp, where free parking will be provided. In order to expedite the inoculation process, please wear a short-sleeved shirt or top.
