HGTV Show Featuring Niagara Families to Air Dec. 10

HGTV Show Featuring Niagara Families to Air Dec. 10

‘Holiday Battle on the Block’, an HGTV show featuring six Niagara families, will air its first episode featuring Niagara Falls’ DeVeaux neighborhood on Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. and an episode featuring Youngstown will air Dec. 17 at 8 p.m..

The cable network was in town for two weeks in Dec. 2009 to film the families as they were put to the challenge in a festive holiday decorating face-off.  During the show, each family was given a healthy budget to design, shop and build something special within 48 hours as they competed for “Best Holiday House” and neighborhood bragging rights. The winners were decided by a panel of local judges.

Both shows will re-air on Dec. 24 at noon and 12:30 p.m.. “Holiday Battle on the Block” is a Cineflix (Holiday Battle) Inc production in association with Scripps Networks LLC (HGTV USA).

Lewiston Is “Home for the Holidays” in Play Premiere

Theatre in the Mist, the award-winning community theater group based in Lewiston, NY, will host the world premiere of “Home for the Holidays” on Friday, December 3, 2010. Five additional performances are scheduled through December 12.

Local writer and director Jason R. Bek introduces audiences to the zany Kringle family and their holiday surprise at the family farmhouse in Lewiston, complete with sing-a-long, snowball fights, a unique Christmas Eve feast, favorite Christmas carols and songs, and the worst blizzard since 1977.

Bek’s debut as playwright is a personal one; much of the story is drawn from his own experiences and those of cast members. “I wanted this play to capture the feel-good spirit of a vintage holiday special, with all the flavor of our real-life celebrations. It was fun to bring some of my own stories to the stage, as well as family traditions shared by cast members. We know they’ll be something for everyone in the audience to relate to!”
