Kenan Center Nursery School To Hold Free Story Hour & Open House

Kenan Center Nursery School To Hold Free Story Hour & Open House

One of the most important things parents of toddlers need to be concerned about when looking at preschools is how well their children will be prepared for the "new" kindergarten where reading and writing skills have become essential. The Kenan Center Nursery School (KCNS) prides itself on having a firm focus on literacy through its half-day program for three and four-year-olds. Parents can get a taste of the program by joining teacher/director, Mrs. Robin Wagner, for a free Preschool Story Hour on Saturday, March 19, at 10:00 a.m. The featured story will be THE FOOT BOOK by Dr. Seuss, and an activity and light snack will be provided. Parents are asked to RSVP by calling 433-2617 or email Mrs. Wagner at rwagner@kenancenter.org.

Nichols Students Named Squash City Champions

Nichols Students Named Squash City Champions
Recently, an historic moment occurred in the 100-year history of squash in Buffalo. For the first time, both Buffalo Squash Racquets Championships were won by junior players, both from Nichols School.   Nichols seniors, Michael Che and Pamicka Marinello, became the City Champions on Saturday, March 5. This win implies their positions as the best male and female players in the city.   Che thrashed a veteran of five city championships and Marinello triumphed over a former collegiate squash player at St. Lawrence University. Nichols freshman, Caroline Hogan, came in fourth in the women’s tournament. They all exhibited great sportsmanship and graciousness in victory.

Former NFL Player Bo Eason Comes to Lockport Tomorrow

Called “One of the most powerful plays of the decade,” by The New York Times, RUNT OF THE LITTER, performed and written by former Houston Oilers safety, Bo Eason, comes to the Kenan Center Taylor Theater on March 8, 7:00 p.m. The performance, which contains adult language and themes, is geared to ages 13 and up. Tickets are $10 with a $1.00 discount for seniors and members.

RUNT OF THE LITTER opens when Eason’s character, Jack Henry, is within an hour of realizing his lifelong dream, and only one thing stands in his way--his brother. RUNT OF THE LITTER looks at what happens to two brothers in a family of over-achievers: when their parents assure their oldest son he is destined for football superstardom, and tell their youngest son he is too small to compete, a line in the family sand is drawn that colors the rest of their lives.
