Lionfish, Tiger Sharks and Poison Dart Frogs … Oh my!

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- It won’t be long before the Aquarium will celebrate one of its most popular events: Halloween Happenings. Sure to be ‘fin-filled’ and spine tingling, this annual event gives the staff a chance to be scary or funny, or both, while on the job. Youngsters, too, can wear costumes, “trick or treat” at our door to be in a safe environment, have fun and win prizes. Each child will receive a “treat bag.”

There will be a few surprises and special sea lion shows. The event will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. Shows are planned at 4:30 and 6 p.m. The first will feature the California sea lions in an assortment of Halloween themes and music. The second will parody box office hit movies.

Old Fort Niagara to be Featured on Discovery Channel

Old Fort Niagara will be featured on an upcoming episode of Discovery Channel’s Ghost Lab airing on October 21 at 10 p.m. Brad and Barry Klinge, founders of Everyday Paranormal and hosts of Ghost Lab, travel the country using some of the world’s most sophisticated equipment to gather powerful supernatural research. They visited the Fort in May and spent three days investigating reported paranormal activity at the historic site.

“The Fort has endured a long history of tumultuous and tragic death through battle, starvation and disease, making it a ripe location for paranormal investigation,” said Robert Emerson, executive director. “The earliest reported ‘haunting’ was about 1817 according to some records."

“We are looking forward to seeing the results of Brad and Barry’s investigation as many of our employees and overnight guests have experienced unexplained footsteps and doors slamming or witnessed glowing orbs,” added Emerson.
