NCCC Art Gallery Presents: Fabric of War; Papermaking and Printmaking as Social Engagement

SANBORN, NY- Niagara County Community College Art Gallery and the Arts and Media Division present Fabric of War; Papermaking and Printmaking as Social Engagement from January 27 - February 26, 2011 in the Art Gallery on the Sanborn campus of the college.

Fabric of War is a powerful exhibition of work created by veterans through The Combat Paper Project which utilizes art-making workshops offered throughout the USA to assist veterans in reconciling and sharing their personal experiences of their service and the military culture.

Lockport YMCA to Host Annual SUNY Coaching Certification

Lockport, N.Y. – The Lockport YMCA is hosting a SUNY Youth Sports Institute Coaching Certification Course on Wednesday, January 19th.  The upcoming course will be the second SUNY Coaching Certification held with the Lockport YMCA since January 2010.   

The class is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm at the Lockport YMCA on East Avenue, and will last approximately 3 hours.  The course is open to all who are interested within the Lockport community.  John Strong will be the SUNY Youth Sports Institute Instructor teaching the Wednesday evening course.

Swiss Junior Hockey Team Takes on Niagara Falls

Approximately 40 junior hockey players from Switzerland and their coaching staff toured the Niagara Falls State Park on Wednesday, giving them some much needed relaxation and an icy view of a world renowned attraction.

The players visited the observation tower, caught an up-close view of Niagara Falls from Prospect Point, and were able to tour the park at their leisure.

The Swiss junior hockey team is in the Buffalo and Niagara areas until Tuesday for the World Junior Hockey Championships.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- Leadership Niagara Board of Directors and its executive director, Molly Fitzpatrick, are announcing a new world-class leadership transformation program and coaching and mentoring program in 2011.  The new leadership program is unique for community leadership development programs nationwide, as participants will study the art and science of leading an organization through change and transformation, innovation, and teamwork and collaboration.  Leaders will also be provided individually tailored personal leadership development throughout the year with coaching and mentoring.

Just Announced: The French Connection to Appear at HockeyTowneUSA Fan Fest

The French Connection — Gilbert Perreault, Rene Robert and Richard Martin — will be appearing December 26 and 27 at HockeyTowneUSA Fan Fest in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

HockeyTowneUSA Fan Fest is being held December 26-29 and is sponsored by Towne Automotive Group, Certo Brothers Distributing Company and Sgroi Financial LLC, in association with WNY Hockey Magazine. Hockey fans from Western New York, Southern Ontario and around the world will also be in downtown Buffalo during this time for the World Junior hockey tournament.

One Niagara Weekend-Long Christmas Party Starts Saturday Morning
