Niagara Catholic Hosts Mardi Gras Dinner & Auction

NIAGARA FALLS, NY - Niagara Catholic High School announced Friday that it will be hosting its annual “Mardi Gras Dinner & Auction” on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Antonio’s Restaurant and Banquet Center, 7708 Niagara Falls Boulevard. 

Hosted by Co-Chair couples Mr. & Mrs. Paul Dyster and Mr. & Mrs. George Edwards, the evenings activities promise a basket auction, silent auction, live auction, and sit-down dinner along with entertainment. 

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for viewing and bidding on the items, and dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. (reservations required).  The basket auction is open to the public from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with free admission.

WNY Ford Dealers and Labatt Blue Team up for New Event at Pond Hockey

BUFFALO, NY – Earlier today, the Western New York Ford Dealers and Labatt Blue announced details for a new event taking place on the ice during the 4th annual Labatt Blue Buffalo Pond Hockey Tournament. On Saturday, February 12, 10 finalists will take their best shot in the 2011 Ford Explorer Hockey Shootout to win an all-new 2011 Ford Explorer Limited, courtesy of the WNY Ford Dealers.

Finalists will receive one chance to shoot a puck through a four-inch target from 100 feet away. The first person to score will drive away in the completely redesigned Ford Explorer, just named the North American Truck of the Year at the 2011 North American International Auto Show.

"They Kept Their Word": An Exhibit on Historical African American Women's Literary Societies

The Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society presents an exhibit delving into the rich and influential history of African American Women’s Literary Societies in the Buffalo region. “They Kept Their Word: African American Women's Literary Societies and Their Legacy” opens with a reception on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 at 2 p.m.

This opening reception coincides with a Martin Luther King program at the Historical Society, sponsored by the Afro American Historical Association of the Niagara Frontier, which will take place at 3 p.m. on the same day. ("African Americans, the Civil War & Martin Luther King's Legacy" is the theme of the MLK program; speaker Harry Matthews Bradshaw will offer a talk on the subject.)

One out of every three people will need blood in his/her lifetime.  Niagara Catholic High School’s Transplant Awareness Group (TAG) is sponsoring a UNYTS (Upstate New York Transplant Service) Blood Drive on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the school chapel.  For more information or to make an appointment to donate, call Ms. Moore at 283-8771.  Walk-ins are also welcome.  A $25 Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill gift card will be given to one generous, “lucky” donor.

NIAGARA FALLS, NY - The Town of Niagara Business & Professional Association will be hosting its Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the LaSalle Yacht Club, 73 South 68th Street, Niagara Falls. 

Cocktails begin at 6 p.m. with the dinner and program to follow. A basket raffle and 50/50 split club will also be available with proceeds from the split will benefit Community Missions of Niagara Frontier.

NIAGARA FALLS, NY – This is no ordinary Battle of the Bands. This is a Hard Rock International Battle!

With 74 cities around the world hosting events to find a band that will represent them in Hard Rock Battle of the Bands 2011, the competition this year is expected to be fiercer than ever.

Forty bands will move on to be voted on by fans at hardrock.com, but only 4 bands will win the ultimate prize and perform live in London at Hard Rock Calling in London’s Historic Hyde Park.
