Rumble to Break the Silence to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence

It’s an event meant to create some noise to stress that no one should suffer silently when help is available.

The first Rumble to Break the Silence Bike Run to Expose Domestic Violence will be held Saturday, June 11, at the Ulrich Center, 45 Main St., Lockport.

Registration with free doughnuts and coffee will begin at 9:30 a.m., and kickstands will go up at 11 a.m. The event will follow a 60-mile course, stopping at Water Street Landing and the Wilson Boat House before returning to the Ulrich Center.

After the run, family-friendly events with food and beverages will be offered. Stylin Tattoo’s Mobile 1 also will be onsite offering henna tattoos and piercing specials. Other vendors will include CharGina Jewelry and Charms and Mac Street Rider. The day also will feature prizes, raffles, games and live music by DieDarlingRadio, Grundnerhall, Your Loving X and 100 Proof Justice.

Proceeds from the bike run will benefit the OP Music House in Orchard Park, which was established by Suzanne Perry after her own battle to break free of domestic violence. The house offers a musical outlet for women and men who have been impacted by domestic violence.

“We hold live music events all over Western NY as a strategic outreach,” Perry states on the facility’s website at www.opmusichouse.org.

She also shares her experience as a domestic violence victim advocate, delivering speeches and hosting radio shows.
