Kenan Center Hosts 6th Annual Wine & Beer Fest

The Kenan Center will present the 6th annual Niagara Wine & Beer Tasting Fest January 28, 2017 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Kenan Center Arena, 195 Beattie Avenue, Lockport. The event is the Kenan Center’s first major event kicking off its 50th Anniversary year.

The event will feature more than 30 wineries, breweries, specialty food vendors, and restaurants. Featured wineries include: A Gust of Sun, Black Willow Winery/Vahalla Meadery, Flight of Five, Freedom Run, Long Cliff, Midnight Run, Niagara Landing, Schulze Vineyards & Winery, Victorianbourg, Vizcarra Vineyards, The Winery at Marjim Manor, and the Winery of Ellicottville. 810 Meadworks, which debuted at the event last year, will be back with their unique selection of honey-based meads. Breweries will include: 12 Gates, 42 North, Big Ditch, Flying Bison, Ithaca, New Belgium, New York Beer Project, Resurgence, Thin Man, and Woodcock. Blackbird Cider Works will also be on hand with its popular variety of hard ciders.

Specialty food vendors will include Pickle Annie’s, Hens Honey Bee Farm, Stone Hollow Farm, That Popcorn Shack, D’Avolio, Naturally Nuts and Della’s Chocolates. In addition, four local restaurants will be on hand: Davison Road Inn, Lock 34 with 80 Main Banquet & Catering, Molinaro’s Ristorante, and Steak Stone & Sushi. Davison Road Inn, The Village Eatery, and The Penalty Box are also hosting after-parties at their locations.

Sales of wine by the bottle are brisk at the event. Last year approximately 900 bottles of wine were sold. This year, Schulze Vineyards & Winery will be offering specially labeled bottles of their red Cabernet Franc Reserve and white Vidal Blanc celebrating the Kenan Center’s 50th Anniversary, with artwork by local artist, Manning McCandlish. Said Mark Jaekle, event co-chair and member of the Kenan Center Board of Directors, “Every event on our calendar this year will have a special addition in honor of our golden anniversary. Making wine available for the Niagara Wine & Beer Tasting Fest was a natural, and will be something visitors can enjoy long after the festival.”

All ticket purchasers receive a souvenir glass, tasting journal, and a $5 food voucher that can be used at one of the restaurant vendors that evening. Wine by the bottle will be for sale. The festivities include live music by The Observers, a basket raffle, 50/50 split, and a new photo booth courtesy of Photo Booth Central of WNY.

Overflow parking with shuttle service to and from the Lockport Board of Education Building, one block north of the Arena on Beattie Avenue will again be available for all hours of the event.

In addition to the benefits provided with regular ticket purchase, VIP patrons receive early admission at 4:00 p.m., reserved parking, a VIP gift bag, and $1.00 off wine by the bottle between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $50.

$25 pre-sale and VIP tickets are available at the Kenan Center Business Office, 433 Locust Street, or at the Kenan Center Arena, 195 Beattie Avenue. Tickets can also be purchased online at NiagaraWineAndBeerFest.com. Admission at the door will be $35. Designated drivers will be admitted for $10 at the door.
