Sheriff Voutour announces Newfane Bank of America Robbery Arrest

Lockport, NY - Sheriff James R. Voutour has announced the arrest of James Marquette Williams, age 31 of Lockport, New York.  Williams was arrested in connection with a bank robbery which occurred on January 2, 2013 at the Bank of America branch located in the Hamlet of Newfane. During the robbery Williams attempted to disguise his appearance by wearing sunglasses and placing white tape on his face.  He entered the bank at approximately 12:30PM and showed a note to the teller.  Williams left the bank with a then undetermined amount of cash.

After a lengthy investigation by Sheriff’s Investigators Williams confessed to the crime. Sheriff Voutour credited the arrest to the excellent investigative work of lead Investigator John Wick, along with Investigators William Evans and Ronald Dworzanski. 

Williams has accepted a plea of Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree, an E Felony.  His sentencing is scheduled for October 18th, 2013 at 2:00 PM, before Niagara County Court Judge the Honorable Sara S. Farkas.
