Olcott Beach, N.Y. has shown America that it is a great vacation destination. On Oct. 26, Krull Park was awarded a $50,000 grant as part of the third annual "America Is Your Park" campaign by Coca-Cola.

Some of the dignitaries in attendence were, Sen. George Maziarz (R-62nd District); Town of Newfane supervisor Timothy Horanburg; Kevin O’Brien, Commissioner of Public Works and Parks Dept.; William Ross, Chairman of Legislature; Clyde Burmaster, Vice Chairman of Legislature; and Matthew Spillane, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Buffalo

During June and July, online voting took place through Facebook and Foursquare. A passionate group of current and former residents of Olcott Beach and Newfane, voted for this historic park. It was established in 1937 and covers more than 325 acres. Krull Park is used year-round and includes five softball diamonds, soccer and lacrosse fields, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, two playgrounds, tennis courts, a new splash park and four exercise stations.

This isn't the first time this month that the Olcott Beach area has been up for, and won, an award. Earlier this summer, the area won the World Fishing Network's "Ultimate Fishing Town" and a $25,000 prize that will go towards a fishing-related project.
