Daemen Accounting Program Earns International Accreditation

Daemen Accounting Program Earns International Accreditation

Daemen College’s Accounting Program has earned accreditation from the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), making it one of only five colleges in the country to hold this new specialized accreditation.

The five-year accreditation follows a rigorous self-evaluation that demonstrated Daemen’s accounting program meets the high standards established by the IACBE, an on-site visit that included an independent peer review, and a review by the IACBE Board of Commissioners.

“This prestigious new accreditation is a testament to the excellence of our accounting program at the national and international level,” said Dr. Sharlene Buszka, chairperson of accounting, business administration, and paralegal studies. “As an accredited IACBE institution, it reaffirms the strength and quality of the accounting education our dedicated faculty provide our students.”

Hotel Owners Turning to Sure Step to Keep Guests and Employees on Their Feet

Hotel Owners Turning to Sure Step to Keep Guests and Employees on Their Feet

Slip-and-fall injuries are a serious concern for all businesses, and the lodging industry is no exception. In fact, think about all the areas in a hotel, motel or bed-and-breakfast that have an increased potential for falls: Lobby floors and uncarpeted walkways, buffet and dining areas, kitchens, around swimming pools and saunas, locker rooms, restrooms. It’s a pretty lengthy list.

To prevent slip-and-fall accidents, more and more businesses, including hotels, are turning to a product called Sure Step, offered locally by Western New York-based Nonslip Safety Solution, to keep guests and employees on their feet. The result: Fewer potential lawsuits and/or missed work days.

Professional Carpet and Floor Cleaning Will Wash Away the Remnants of Summer

Professional Carpet and Floor Cleaning Will Wash Away the Remnants of Summer

The calendar has turned to September and the kids are back in school. For the first time in a long time, the house is going to be empty and quiet for several hours a day. Sounds like a good time to have your carpets and flooring professionally cleaned!

“When you have kids and they have friends over all summer long, your flooring throughout the house can take a real beating,” said Edmund Bedient, owner of Clear Choice Cleaning Services in West Seneca and the father of five active children. “Add a pet or pets into the mix and you’re only adding to the problem. So take advantage of the school days and have your carpets and floors professionally cleaned, especially with the holidays right around the corner!”

A sparkling clean home is also extremely important if you are considering putting your house on the market at any time in the near future.

Sink or Swim Tattoo Inks Deal for Larger Location

When local tattoo artist Keith Kuzara purchased Sink or Swim Tattoo from his boss back in the fall of 2015, the first-time business owner probably didn’t expect such a positive and immediate response from the Western New York community … but that’s exactly what he got.

Just two years later, Kuzara and the staff of Sink or Swim have left their 800-square-foot shop in North Tonawanda for much larger space in Niagara Falls. With more employees and more customers, the larger facility is a true blessing.

Located at 2045 Niagara Falls Blvd. in Niagara Falls, the spacious new home of Sink or Swim Tattoo offers 2,000 square feet of comfort for Kuzara, his eight employees and their faithful followers. A soft opening at the new location took place on Tuesday, Aug. 22.
