Australian Puppet Theatre Stops by Taylor Theatre

Australian Puppet Theatre Stops by Taylor Theatre

In what's being called "the biggest year in its history" the Terrapin Puppet Theatre from Australia will embark on a world tour that will bring their brilliant performance, BOATS, to the U.S., including a one-night performance at the Kenan Center's Taylor Theater in Lockport on April 29 at 7:00 p.m.

“How exciting is it” said Artistic Director Frank Newman “that Terrapin’s ground-breaking digital puppetry is now finding audiences all over Australia and the globe. It’s a great testament to all the artists that have helped us create these brilliant shows. We’re thrilled to represent Tasmania on the national and world stage, and we’re thrilled to bring three new shows to local audiences in 2011”.

BOATS is a story about a man called Jof, told by his friend Nic. The two of them are life-long friends and sailors--two mariners fleeing their past and embracing adventure. But it is much more! BOATS is a performance in which the magic is created in front of you!

'Expressions in Chalk' Street Painting Festival is a Colorful Event

'Expressions in Chalk' Street Painting Festival is a Colorful Event

Looking for a unique getaway this summer? Imadon’s Expressions in Chalk is a free admission, family oriented, three-day summer street painting festival that attracts thousands of visitors to the heart of Wortley Village in nearby London, Ontario. The sixth annual Expressions in Chalk, taking place July 30 through Aug. 1, will feature both local and international artists.

Each year, in addition to the competitive paintings, the festival undertakes a special street painting project. In 2009, for example, these talented artists re-created the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and in 2010 paid tribute to Canadian hero Terry Fox. The 2011 special project will take place at 120 Bruce St. in the St. James Westminster Anglican Church parking lot in London.
