Full Summer Season Kickoff Planned at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road in Amherst, is proud to announce a full May calendar celebrating the season opening! 

Free Farmstead Thursdays, made possible through funding by M&T Bank, will begin Thursday, May 4. Admission is free for all to enjoy from 4 to 8 p.m. and offers visitors access to family-friendly educational programming, demonstrations by costumed historic interpreters, guided tours of the historic village and farmstead, and 20,000 square feet of curated exhibit space. Free Farmstead Thursdays run May through August.

Kenan Center to Present All High Photo Show

For the 32nd year, the Kenan Center in Lockport will present the STORRS ALL HIGH PHOTO SHOW, featuring the work of high school students from 28 schools from across Western New York. This year’s show opens Sunday, April 2, with a free public reception from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Kenan Center House Gallery, 433 Locust Street in Lockport. Awards will be presented at 3:00 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, noon to 5:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The exhibit continues through Sunday, April 23.

Kenan Center House Gallery exhibitions are generously sponsored by the Grigg Lewis Foundation, M&T Bank, Kenan Arts Council, Kenan Quilters’ Guild, and the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust. Award support for this exhibit was provided by The Buffalo News/NeXt, the Buffalo Society of Artists, and individual sponsors.

Kenan Center Named Finalist for Arts Award

The Kenan Center in Lockport has been selected as one of three finalists for this year’s Spark Awards “Organization of the Year.” The fourth annual awards are presented by Arts Services Initiative serving Erie, Niagara, Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties. The other two finalists are the Springville Center for the Arts and Fredonia Opera House. Past recipients of the award are Just Buffalo Literary Center (2016), the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center (2015), and Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (2014).

Are you a Filmmaker, an Animator or Video Producer looking to share your latest work and potentially earn a little extra cash? Submit your film to the 2017 NCCC Film & Animation Festival!

NCCC’s Digital Media Program has teamed up with NCCC’s Animation Department to co-host their annual Film & Animation Festival: a contest open to Filmmakers of all ages and all levels of expertise.

Kenan Gallery to Host Two Special Programs

The Kenan Center will host two special programs in conjunction with the current Buffalo Society of Artists exhibit in the House Gallery. A Tea & Tour will take place on March 5 from 1-3 PM. Guests enjoy light luncheon fare, dessert and tea followed by a conversation with BSA artists. $25/person. Advance reservations are required by calling 433-2617 or visiting the Kenan Center Business Office.

On March 12 from 2-4 PM, members of the BSA will provide free tours of the exhibit.

Kenan Center Launches Jazz Series February 25

Following the success of its Tidings of Comfort & Jazz holiday concerts in December, the Kenan Center, in collaboration with The Carriage House Players, will launch a 50th Anniversary Jazz Series featuring some top names in jazz – both locally and nationally. All concerts begin at 7:30 PM in the Taylor Theater, a 153-seat carriage house on the Kenan Center campus that provides an intimate, club-like atmosphere, and will feature two full sets of music.
