Silk Scarf Workshop at Audubon Community Nature Center, Friday, June 2

Silk Scarf Workshop at Audubon Community Nature Center, Friday, June 2

Jamestown, NY – At the Audubon Community Nature Center’s Silk Scarf Workshop, you can learn an easy technique to create a beautiful nature-themed scarf.

On Friday, June 2, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Elaine Caflisch and Mary Barker will co-teach this hands-on workshop and provide all the materials you need to make a wearable nature-themed art piece.

Not only will you go home with a silk scarf to wear or give as a gift, you will also know how to make your own creations. The technique will be demonstrated on silk scarves, but can be applied to other fabric items as well.

Elaine Caflisch has been painting for 45 years, mostly on porcelain, but also murals, furniture, and other items. Mary Barker is retired from a 33-year career in art and elementary education and most recently has been repurposing old china to make mosaics. Both these “friends in art” are officers in the Chautauqua County Society of Artists.

KENAN GALLERY TO PRESENT 3 GENERATIONS OF BURCHFIELDS

This year not only marks the 50th Anniversary of the Kenan Center in Lockport, but the 51st anniversary of a landmark in the history of the Kenan House Gallery. It was on April 30, 1966, that the fledgling gallery opened with an exhibit of works by American watercolorist, Charles E. Burchfield, from the collection of Charles Rand Penney. It would prove to be one of the last exhibitions Burchfield attended in person prior to his passing in January, 1967.
