Home Tour
Explore Buffalo will host a special Holiday Home Tour event from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. Tour a beautifully decorated home on one of Buffalo’s most exclusive streets, Chapin Parkway. Also featured on the 2016 Twilight Tour of Homes in June, the home of the Eoannou family will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland!

Smackdab/Adults-Only Opening Winter Lights at Audubon Friday, December 16

Jamestown, NY – Winter Lights at Audubon opens this year with an Adults Only night featuring the exciting regional favorite live band Smackdab.

After walking a luminary-lit trail of interactive lights, you can listen to music and enjoy snacks and a beer or glass of wine at the Audubon Community Nature Center on Friday evening, December 16, 2016. Soda, hot chocolate, and coffee will also be available for designated drivers and those not interested in beer or wine.

The 5:30-8:30 p.m. event features 14 lasers and more than 10,000 LED lights, a merger of nature with cutting edge technology where YOU get to control your experience. Interactive LED lights, including a drum that changes lights in the building, firefly lasers and animal quiz boards, create a new twist on light shows.

You can warm up at the fire at the midpoint of the half-mile walk on a paved and ice-free trail, and gasp at the finale at the Blue Heron Overlook.

Kenan Center Presents Holiday Jazz Concerts

The Kenan Center will present ”Tidings of Comfort & Jazz,” two nights of traditional holiday music re-imagined by jazz quintet, What Would Mingus Do?,  December 2 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kenan Center’s Taylor Theater in Lockport. The concerts will feature two 45-minute sets. Wine and beer will be served. Tickets are $15 general public/$10 for Kenan members and can be purchased at the Kenan Center or by calling 433-2617. Tickets will also be available at the door. This unprecedented program of jazz interpretations of holiday tunes will launch a new collaboration between the Kenan Center and Carriage House Players.

What Would Mingus Do? features leader Kelly Bucheger, alto & tenor saxophones; Mark Filsinger, trumpet & flugelhorn; Jared Tinkham, guitar; Joe Goehle, bass and Alec Dube, drums.

Western New Yorkers can complete their holiday shopping and buy local on Dec. 3 and 4 as the 22nd annual Yuletide in the Country Holiday Artisan Market returns to the Event Center at the Hamburg Fairgrounds. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

From celebrating a Victorian Christmas to dining with Santa to enjoying a holiday tea with loved ones, Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village invites you to participate in their exciting events planned for the month of December.

Enjoy a menu full of Victorian Christmas recipes at the second annual “Taste of Christmas Past” from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. The evening’s program includes:
• Music by Dan Wilke, organ grinder, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
• 45-minute guided lantern tours of the village with one of BNHV’s costumed villagers (includes grounds and exterior of building) at 6:15 and 7:15 p.m.
• Music by the Hutchinson Family Revival from 7 to 9 p.m.
• Live auction at 8 p.m.
• Tree lighting ceremony and caroling on the historic bandstand at 8:15 p.m.
• Remaining auctions and raffles after tree lighting ceremony

Explore Buffalo and Palace Theatre to Offer Lockport Tour of Homes

The Historic Palace Theatre in Lockport and Explore Buffalo are teaming up again to offer a great tour of homes to kick off the holiday season! Participants will enjoy touring 10 historic locations in the City of Lockport from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19.

Starting at the Kenan Center Arena, guests will pick up their tour book containing histories of the buildings and a map with the locations of the homes. Carolers from the Palace Theatre’s production of Scrooge will be at the homes, adding to the holiday atmosphere. 

This tour is self-guided from home to home, with docents in each home. You can visit the homes at your own pace and in whatever order you choose. A map of home locations will be provided at the tour’s starting location inside the Kenan Center Arena (behind the Kenan Arts Center), 433 Locust St.
