Kanye West may have another calling other than hip-hop his S/S 2012 ready to wear womenswear line hit the runway at Paris fashion week. Last year's debut had a very high level of expectation and media hype but ultimately didn’t get the reception he was hoping for. It can be hard for any designer celebrity or not to come out with a line that is eccentric, couture and cohesive. But that hasn’t stop this hip-hop icon and visionary from taking another go on the runway.

This go round Mr. West collaborated with British designers Louise Goldin, Katie Eary and Giuseppe Zanotti. The line is sexy rocker chic meets luxe with lots of textures the leather, Fur, knee-high banded boots, mesh booties and cutout heels were all eye catching. His show was packed with some of the hottest celebs and fashionistas alike who all came out to catch a glimpse of his new line. Working the catwalk for Mr. West were top models IT girls Chanel Iman, Jordann Dunn, Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls and Abbey Lee Kershaw.

No word yet on the which stores carrying the line but thus far the shoes from his 2012 collection in which he collaborated with Italian shoe label Giuseppe Zanotti have found a home at the Upscale French retailer Colette.

Most reservation from critics on the line is that most designers go couture only after they have been branded and built a name for themselves and as for Mr. West’s new line its going take some time before people start to take his line more serious. Many have even speculated that Mr. West even with the most talented designers and unlimited resources is taking a jump in the deep end head first with the luxury price tags. In fashion reality Mr. West did redeem himself but just needs to figure out his line’s identity and who he wants to love his line more mainstream audience or fashion insiders.

One question for Mr. West to ponder commercial vs. couture do you want to move units or just settle for acceptance among fashion insiders? Word to the wise cater to the people buying your music, create a lifestyle brand and become a commercial hit. Just ask Jessica Simpson!
