Kenan Center Presents 47th Annual 100 American Craftsmen

The best in contemporary craft art returns to the Kenan Center in Lockport with the 47th annual 100 American Craftsmen show, June 2-4.

One of the region’s longest-running juried craft shows that remains devoted exclusively to fine, contemporary craft art, 100 American Craftsmen traditionally features a mix of veteran and new artisans in clay, metal, wood, leather, glass, paper, jewelry, wearable fiber and textiles, and mixed media. This year’s show will feature 112 artisans including more than 30 new artisans and nine master craftsmen, along with ten new and emerging artisans in the Annex Marketplace.

In addition to the craft show, patrons can enjoy a variety of special amenities during the weekend including live music, specialty food vendors and wineries, indoor café, and Herbal Plant Sale (Saturday only, 10 AM-3 PM).

Returning this year will be the Annex Marketplace. The  Marketplace will feature sweet and savory treats from Naturally Nuts, live music on Saturday and Sunday, a chance to watch professional craft art photographer, Tim Fuss, at work, craft demonstration, and a community art-making project to create a permanent hanging artwork on campus. Visitors are also invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award presented to an artisan in the Annex Marketplace.

100 American Craftsmen patrons always have the added opportunity to see the current exhibit in the Kenan House Gallery. This year the Gallery is hosting THREE GENERATIONS OF BURCHFIELDS: WORKS FROM THE SCHOENE COLLECTION. The exhibit brings together for the first time the works of Charles Burchfield, both of his daughters Catherine Burchfield Parker and Martha Burchfield Richter, and his granddaughter, Peggy Richter Haug. Exhibit hours during 100 American Craftsmen will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 3, and noon to 4 p.m., June 4.

100 American Craftsmen takes place at the Kenan Center Arena, 195 Beattie Ave. Hours for the event are: Friday, June 2, 6 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, June 3, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, June 4, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $6.00 with children age 12 and under free. Active duty military personnel and students will be admitted for half price with ID. A special tradition of 100 American Craftsmen continues with every patron receiving a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of the dozens of craft objects donated by the artisans.
