Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino Hosts Eight-Week 'Comedy Series in the Bear’s Den' This Fall

Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino is excited to announce it will feature some of the best names in comedy for eight straight weeks this fall in the Bear’s Den Showroom. Every Thursday night at 8 p.m., beginning October 2, the “Comedy Series in the Bear’s Den,” sponsored by 97 Rock, will give comedy-lovers the opportunity to see their favorite stand-up comedians up close and personal in a 440-seat, theater-style venue. 97 Rock talk show host Rob Lederman, part of the long-running “Norton in the Morning” show, will host the comedy series.

Comics who have appeared on “The Daily Show,” “Saturday Night Live” and in major comedy clubs across the country will perform every Thursday between October 2 and November 20. Ralphie May, best known from Comedy Central’s “The Burn with Jeff Ross” and ”Comedy Underground with Dave Attell,” will kick off the series.

Tickets for all shows are just $20 and are on sale now at select Seneca Casino retail outlets, Ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster locations and by phone at 800-745-3000. The full lineup for “Comedy Series in the Bear’s Den” is as follows:

  • Ralphie May, Thursday, October 2
  • Robert Kelly, Thursday, October 9
  • Nikki Glaser, Thursday, October 16
  • Nick DiPaolo, Thursday, October 23
  • Jim Breuer, Thursday, October 30
  • Colin Jost, Thursday, November 6
  • Brent Morin, Thursday, November 13
  • Michael Che, Thursday, November 20

Host Rob Lederman is a comic in his own right: his stand-up has landed him on MTV, VH1, Comedy Central and Showtime, as well as opening for Dennis Miller, Jeff Foxworthy, Jay Leno and Don Rickles. Lederman also is in the process of taping his fourth comedy CD. As the sponsor for the comedy series, 97 Rock will feature on-air ticket giveaways, on-air interviews with the comedians as well as other exclusives and specials for fans of the station.

More information about each of the comedians is as follows:

Ralphie May
Ralphie May made his comic debut on Season One of “Last Comic Standing” with a no-nonsense point of view. He also is one of only a handful of comics to receive a standing ovation on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” May knocked out an impressive three top-rated, one-hour Comedy Central specials in three years and has another special coming out this fall.

Robert Kelly
Robert Kelly drew from his rough and tumble upbringing to fuel his brash comedic material. An 18-year veteran, Kelly has toured with Dane Cook, stole the show at the Just for Laughs Festival in 2010 and 2013, and can be seen on FX’s “Louie” as Louie CK’s brother Robbie. He has been featured in several Comedy Central specials and on HBO’s “Tourgasm.”

Nikki Glaser
Nikki Glaser has participated in stand-up since age 18 and has steadily toured across the country since graduating college. Glaser performed at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.  She made the semi-finals in Season Four of “Last Comic Standing” and was featured on this season’s show. Glaser was recently named as one of the Top 10 Emerging Comics by Askmen.com.

Nick DiPaolo
Nick DiPaolo is considered a “Comic’s Comic” and one of the most authentic comedic voices of today. Di Paolo established a reputation as a gifted and solid comedian since appearing on HBO’s “Young Comedian Special.” He received two Emmy nominations for writing and has numerous film and television writing credits under his belt, including material for the 77th Annual Academy Awards. DiPaolo is a recurring guest on “The Howard Stern Show” and “The Opie and Anthony Show.”

Jim Breuer
Jim Breuer is one of the most recognizable comedians in the business and is known for his on-stage antics and dead-on impressions. Breuer was named one of Comedy Central’s “100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time” and got his big break in 1995 after landing a spot on “Saturday Night Live.” He now hosts a weekly Sirius/XM Radio show called “Friday with Breuer,” which features top guest comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Cosby.

Colin Jost
At age 22 in 2005, Colin Jost became one of the youngest writers ever hired by “Saturday Night Live.” He became the show’s head writer in 2012 and also co-anchors the “Weekend Update” segment.  Throughout his career, Jost has won three Writers Guild Awards, a Peabody award and was nominated for eight Emmy Awards.

Brent Morin
Brent Morin was named one of Variety magazine’s “Top Ten Comics to Watch” in 2013. Morin has worked for the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and continues to work with O’Brien on TBS. He has done standup at every major club in Hollywood, including the Comedy Store, the Improv, and the Laugh Factory. He currently stars in the NBC comedy “Undateable.”

Michael Che
Michael Che is one of the biggest up-and-comer comedians and has received rave reviews by critics. He was named as one of Rolling Stone magazine’s “50 Funniest People,” Buzzfeed.com’s “50 Hottest Men in Comedy” and Variety magazine’s “Top 10 Comics to Watch.” Che was crowned the winner of the New York’s Funniest Stand-Up competition at the 2012 New York Comedy Festival, and both Time Out New York and Comedy Central have listed him as one of their “Comics to Watch.”
