John Percy, president and CEO of the Niagara Tourism and Convention Corporation (NTCC), will be chairman of the 2011 American Bus Association (ABA) Marketplace in Philadelphia, January 8-12.

As chairman, Percy will head ABA’s Marketplace, a business event for the group travel industry, which allows group travel buyers and sellers to meet face-to-face in pre-scheduled appointments. In addition to the in-person appointments, Marketplace offers professional education seminars and numerous networking opportunities.

“It is an honor and privilege to have been selected by ABA to serve in this capacity and I look forward to being a part of the premier event for the tourism industry,” said Percy, who has been a member of the organization for 22 years.

Percy is the second supplier in ABA history to be named chair of the Marketplace event, traditionally a motorcoach operator fills that role. Percy has held previous roles at the event as chairman of committees and vice chair in 2009.

Representatives from convention and visitor bureaus, destination marketing organizations, attractions, and lodging from throughout North America will have opportunities to showcase their products to tour operators.

“Group travel continues to be an important target audience for the Niagara USA destination and the NTCC has been a regular participant in the ABA Marketplace,” said Percy.

The American Bus Association represents approximately 1,000 motorcoach and tour companies in the United States and Canada. Its members operate charter, tour, regular route, airport express, special operations and contract services.
